Kanye & Rhymefest Launch Youth Program

Chicago natives Kanye West and Rhymefest have teamed up to launch a music, writing and production course called "Got Bars" for at-risk youth on Chicago's south side. The 10-week program gives young people a constructive, creative outlet. It is a part of West's Donda's House charity.
"My mom spent her life as an educator and I am happy that Donda's House can pick up her torch and honor her life's mission," West said via statement. Rhymefest, co-founder of Donda's House, will help run the program with his wife, Donnie Smith.
"I am so happy to launch 'Got Bars' to honor Kanye West’s mother’s memory and to fulfill one of my Aldermanic campaign goals," said Rhymefest. "'Got Bars' will change our youth musically, get them healthy and keep them busy in a creative, peaceful environment. I know it will be an even stronger program because of our partnership with the ARK of St. Sabina.”

Fugees Director Gets Sentenced

Aswad Ayinde, director of The Fugees' "Killing Me Softly" video, was sentenced to 50 years in prison for sexual assault this past week, according to The NY Daily News. The current sentence will be added to the 40-year sentence Ayinde received last year for similar charges regarding the sexual abuse of his daughters.
Ayinde fathered six children with his daughters over several years, performing the deliveries himself and burying children that didn't survive.
He was convicted of abusing his now-35 year old daughter repeatedly from the time she was 8. “I can’t describe how much you hurt me and my sisters,” his daughter said in court.
His ex-wife testified in 2010 that he believed the world was going to end. "He said the world was going to end, and it was just going to be him and his offspring and that he was chosen," she said at a pre-trial hearing.

2 Chainz Explains Not Recording With Jay Z

2 Chainz is prepping his sophomore album Based On A T.R.U. Story 2: Me Time, and the Atlanta rapper explained why a certain superstar won't be making an appearance on the project. He said that Jay Z won't be dropping a guest first on his album.
"I see who Hov rocks with. Hov rocks with people who he respect and who has glimpses of trap on their resume. I'm a recovering d-boy. I'm a recovering d-boy and he is, too," Chainz said in an interview.
"I do have something I thought would be cool for this album, but I got to talkin' to 'Ye. I'm like, 'Ye, what you think about putting Hov on this one? He was like, 'Me Time,' in all caps," he added. "He just told me just to go hard on n***as."

Nicki Minaj Talks Drake & Young Money

Nicki Minaj recently appeared on Funkmaster Flex's radio show on Hot 97 and the DJ asked her about labelmate Drake and his status with Cash Money Records. Nicki didn't give a straight answer, but indicated there may be an estrangement.
"[Drake's] so talented," she said. "Sometimes, we've seen this. Sometimes when you're really intelligent and you're really talented, you also think a lot. Sometimes your mind is racing with thoughts. It is what it is. People go through their own motions and you've gotta respect it and keep it moving. We all love the team. We all love Wayne. That's what's gonna always hold us together. Drake is my baby because that's how it was when we came in. So whenever I think of him, 'That's my baby.' Whatever is going on now, obviously we're all very busy and you know, shit happens. It gets a little hard to have a real connection when people are on different sides of the world, working on different things. You just never know who people got in their ear or what they're feeling or maybe they felt wronged in some way. I don't know. I just know that Drake is my baby and Wayne is my everything."

Rick Rubin Talks "Magna Carta Holy Grail"

Famed superproducer Rick Rubin recently spoke to XXL about Jay-Z's upcoming album,Magna Carta Holy Grail and revealed that he enjoyed the project, but that it was very different from what he's just done with Kanye West on West's new album Yeezus.
“I liked what I heard, but it was a little difficult—after just coming from the Kanye sessions—to listen to Jay’s album, because they’re so different. I was in a very alternative and progressive headspace, and Jay’s record is a more traditional hip-hop record,” Rubin revealed.
He also shared that he isn't actually a producer on Jay's album, and explained why he was featured in a Samsung commercial promoting the project.
“The point of me being in the commercials was that he was filming a documentary and he asked me—I imagine he’s just comfortable talking to me—to come listen to the songs with him and just talk about the songs," Rubin said. "Just listen to it and talk about it, and that’s what we did. It was fun.”

Jay-Z Replies To Lil Wayne Diss On Holy Grail Album

Jay-Z has finally issued a response to Lil Wayne's "I'm Good." Weezy released the track on 2011's Tha Carter IV, and on the song he rapped "I got your baby money / Kidnap your b*tch, get that how much you love your lady money."
On the new track, "La Familia," from Jay's upcoming Magna Carta Holy Grail album, Jay fires back.
“Wanna kidnap wifey / Good luck with that bruh / You must gonna hide your whole family / What you think we wearing black for / Ready for that war / Ready for that war ready / You ain't ready, yo, you radio," spits Jay.
The two have been trading subliminal disses for years. Jay's new album is due to be released on July 4th.
