Rick Ross Addresses Colorado Tragedy
Rapper Rick Ross, like many other Americans, was deeply affected by the tragic shooting spree that took place at a premiere showing of The Dark Knight Rises at a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado. Speaking with 106 KMEL about the alleged killer, James Holmes, Ross offered sympathy for the victims and shared his anger at Holmes' behavior in court.
“You know, first and foremost, I send my condolences out to the family members of the victims. It’s just so senseless,” he said. “You think you’re in the movie, and as I watched him sitting in the courtroom, now he dizzy. Now he dazed. With all the pictures of him and everything that was leading up to the event, he’s smiling and this and that. Now you dazed. Don’t be dazed now. We need you to be focused when this comes down on you, because that was senseless. It’s unfortunate. Don’t be blinkin’ and all that. It could be one of his approaches to his defense, like he ain’t know what was going on. But that ain’t gon’ help you on this one.”

"I actually got the call before the game started," Christmas said. "I don't really know all the details now, but I'm going to go over them with the staff. But I'm just happy, man, emotional. I actually got the call literally two minutes before the game started."
The Celtics and Christmas' representatives had been discussing a potential deal all week, with Christmas seeking some sort of guarantee from the club. He said he had received significant offers to continue playing in Europe, where he had spent the majority of the last three seasons, but Christmas maintained throughout the week that his ultimate goal was to make it to the NBA this coming season.
"That was my whole mindset," Christmas said, "to come in here and try to get (the Celtics) to like me and bring me in, and it happened."
Christmas later tweeted: "Wanna thank the @celtics for giving me this opportunity to make my dream come true ....#wordscantexplain".
Christmas, 25, went undrafted in 2009 after a four-year career at Temple.
In summer league play, Christmas averaged 14.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists. He shot 47.9 percent from the field overall and 45 percent from 3-point range.

Frank Ocean Reveals Letter's Origins
Frank Ocean spoke at-length about his coming out letter and revealed that it had been written back in December of 2011 to be released alongside his album sleeve. He planned to announce his bisexuality via that method to address any potential speculation that the songs onchannel ORANGE were about men.
"I knew that I was writing in a way that people would ask questions," he said. "I knew that my star was rising, and I knew that if I waited I would always have somebody that I respected be able to encourage me to wait longer, to not say it till who-knows-when."
"People are just afraid of things too much ... Sure, evil exists, extremism exists," he added. "Somebody could commit a hate crime and hurt me. But they could do the same just because I'm black. They could do the same just because I'm American."

Pusha T Talks About "Cruel Summer"
Pusha T knows that fans are getting anxious for details regarding the G.O.O.D. Music album Cruel Summer, and he revealed in a recent interview that he's just as clueless about the project as everyone else.
"I'm in the dark just as much as you guys," Pusha told Billboard. "Nothing is conventional with these guys. It's to the point now, and it's so bad, because [Kanye West]'s been so unconventional… that people won't even accept conventional shit from him. I know we're not gonna start now."
"I'm like, 'Yo, what are we gonna do for the BET Awards?' He goes, 'Oh, I got something.' I walk out, it's like a f**king 50-foot f**king Lamborghini!'" explained Push. "You know what he tells us? He tells us things like what color to wear. 'Hey, bring white or black.' 'Okay, what are we doing?' 'Bring white or black.'"
"I felt like nothing was forced -- things were experimental at times, and I think you're gonna see that," said Pusha. "You're gonna see the experimentation in guys like Common, who is looked at in a certain way. And it was so great to be on a record that may have a bit of a different flow than what you would know Common for… He's in there like 'This sh*t is hot, this sh*t is good, I'm getting on this!' It's so funny, because we're sitting there, dying laughing, and then it kicks in that Common is really writing his verse. Then he lays the verse. And then you realize his verse is sustained and better than yours! It's things like that that happen during those processes. It was so fun in that sense, because it was just all type of fun and surprises."

Swizz Beatz Targeted For MegaUpload
Swizz Beatz is once again being targeted by authorities for his executive role with now-defunct file storage site MegaUpload. Despite Megaupload attorney Ira Rothken previously stating last year that Swizz Beatz was never an acting CEO of the company, federal authorities have countered MegaUpload's request to dismiss a federal indictment against them by filing a 20-page motion citing US citizens David Robb and Kasseem Dean (Swizz Beatz.)
The motion was filed after MegaUpload tried to have the case dismissed on the grounds that they are a foreign corporation and cannot be prosecuted in America.
Part of the motion reads:
"After Defendant Dotcom became Defendant Megaupload’s Chief Innovation Officer, the company appears to have employed at least two Chief Executive Officers in the United States: first David Robb and then Kasseem David Dean (also known as Swizz Beatz). These individuals represented the company before the Office of the United States Trade Representative (“USTR”) in relation to Megaupload.com’s inclusion on the Notorious Markets Review, and more recently, Mr. Dean through counsel has refused to cooperate with the government’s investigation. Delivering a summons to Mr. Dean, a resident of the United States, in his capacity as apparent Chief Executive Officer should also constitute proper service of process upon an officer of the company."

Juvenile Addresses B.G.'s Sentence
Rapper Juvenile shared his thoughts on B.G.'s 14-year prison sentence. He said that he is very disappointed in the news and offered his sympathy to his old bandmate's family.
“I don’t feel good about it. It’s one of those situations where you get sick in your stomach,” Juvenile told AllHipHop. “I wish nothing but good things for him and his family, his kids, because you don’t want to see nobody go get locked up that long and be away from their family."
“I try to tell all the youngsters out there man, if you want to be gangster and go out there and thug-out and go out there and do certain things, just know there’s consequences,” Juvenile added. “It was a situation where it shouldn’t have happened; I wish it would have never happened. I wish he never would have got pulled over or whatever, but it happened. I just wish and am hoping that all you other cats out there take heed to that and don’t make the same mistake.”

Nas Album Release + 18 Years Since Illmatic * Jay-Z 16years Since Illmatic
Nas’ 10 th studio album Life Is Good is in stores today after his release party last night at Bagatelle in New York City. Fellow Hip-Hop artists in attendance celebrating Nas’ new album were Jay-Z, Swizz Beatz, Busta Rhymes, Jermaine Dupri, and music was provided by Q-Tip. Here a shot of Jay-Z and Nas celebrating during the release party. The above picture is great not only considering Nas and Jay’s past combustible history, but also for the fact they’ve entered uncharted territory for Hip-Hop as two emcees two decades deep that have maintained relevance and high skill levels. As they continue releasing albums, especially of the quality Nas just dropped, it’s becoming highly difficult to rank any of their peers or predecessors above them. Just consider for a second that Illmatic came out 18 years ago and Reasonable Doubt 16 years ago. Then reflect on how many trends and rappers have come and gone since then. The majority of our greatest emcees and groups are pretty much done as far as being at a high level by their third or fourth project. It’s been an amazing run for both and hopefully a signal that future older emcees will let their music mature with their age and life experiences. |

Frank Ocean Confirms Target Ban
Frank Ocean's debut albumChannel Orange is not being sold in Target stores due to Def Jam's making the album available early via iTunes. The reasoning was confirmed despite the singer's manager initially insinuating that the company banned the album because of Ocean's coming out as a bisexual last week.
"Target has refused to carry Frank's album because of iTunes exclusive," the singer's manager, Christian Clancy, wrote in a tweet that has since been deleted. "Interesting since they also donate to non-equal rights organizations."
Nonetheless, Ocean confirmed that the album won't be sold at Target.
"Album won't be available at target," he tweeted. "Blame it on a generational gap. best buy on deck though."
