INSIDE THE KNOCKOFF-TENNIS-SHOE FACTORY

Read this interesting article here from the New York Times.  Fakes/counterfeit goods is a similar issue to illegal music download, most people don’t care enough to make it change but it’s a serious problem.  At the end of the day it all starts with educating consumers because these factories aren’t going anywhere anytime soon and as long as there are customers they will find their way to market.

I know one thing air force ones are my trademark thats all I wear and I care about knock offs but believe me I know the difference between the real and the fake thats whyI only go to well known shoe stores like Footlocker. If you can't afford the real ones then I guess these are perfect for you, but recession or not looking good is automatic and I don't mind spending the bread to look good. If your apeerance dosent matter to you then money is an issue but Im jermaine Dupree on this one " the money aint a thang" step ya game up or continue to wear the knock offs. 704 Rep.

Man please...I don't even care. I download knockoff movies, music, books, games, buy knockoff CD's, shoes...whatever. It's my money and I'll do whatever the hell I please. Shawty's right, America is expensive as hell. They say "sale"...then you walk in and their deal is some b.s. that aint worth ya time or money. Shoot, the knockoff sneakers from China look better and last longer than the "supposed" real ones from Footlocker. And how you know Footlocker don't sell knockoffs..Oh I know, ...you just know right. SMH...I don't care about material stuff, but I aint no hoe either. The government aint gonna pimp me and tell me what I can and can't buy. That's the whole point to this. It has nothing to do with the asia factories. America wants "ALL" your money, that's what this is about, so they come up with ways to limit where you buy everything, and then try to decriminalize anything you get at a dirt cheap price. The real CD's and bootlegs are both porcessed and manufactured overseas, the same for your clothing, furniture, cars, etc...Yeah! Like I said, I aint no hoe America, and I'mma but all the bootlegs or knockoffs I want until you could beat the price. Kiss my ass!

Wake up people and do your research! The reason the "knock-offs" so closely resemble the "authentic" is bcuz they are being manufactured by the same company and sold by various retailers at various prices. Companies such as Nike, Gucci, Timberland...outsource the manufacturing of their products and pay foreigners pennies on the dollar for production then tag a 100% mark-up price to the items and sell to us. It costs nomore than $20 to produce a pair of sneakers but they sell them to us for $100 a pair! I'm glad someone was smart enough to say "hey I have the blueprint to make this super popular item (that's in high demand and overpriced) which I can sell for half of the msrp to people who want to have stylish apparel but can't afford them. Honestly knock-offs make the ppl who paid full price look stupid bcuz u paid 5x what I paid and 95% of the U.S population can't tell the difference between the two!! You idiots are letting these designers trick you out of your hard earned money and you can't even afford to pay for your children to get half the education that you have contributed to THEIR childrens education! WAKE UP AMERICA!!!

Just looks like a more profitable way to sell ugly shoes to negros who want to look "fly". Now you won't have to spend so much "bread" to look as stupid as you act. Your welcome america.

I don't give a shit. It depends on my funds and what I need. I agree with most of the comments -- spend your money any damn way you please. I ain't above the knock off -- not at all. I wish they had that shit around when I was growing up and my parents gave me a major hassle over some Super Pro Keds....
