MOST POWERFUL WOMAN IN ENTERTAINMENT

On Friday, Oprah Winfrey was named the most powerful woman in entertainment on THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER’S ANNUAL POWER 100 LIST.

Winfrey’s talk show began in national syndication 22 years ago, and her production company, Harpo Inc., made $345 million last year, which includes her TV show, a magazine and an online store.

The 54-year-old media maven jumped from the No. 6 spot on last year’s list to No. 1 this year, and Elizabeth Guider, editor of The Hollywood Reporter, remarked on Winfrey’s “immense cultural influence” and said she could be “the most influential woman in America.”

I admire her sooooooooo much and although I may not agree with everything she says on her show, one thing is for sure, she has successfully paved the way as well as opened other doors of opportunity for young aspiring women like myself. Oprah may not be liked by the Black community but she is to be respected.
